The Scoop On Ice Cream

A recent trip to the grocery store sparked a chilling realization that I just had to share... that I am deeply disappointed by the lack of real ice cream options available.

This wasn’t the first time I noticed this (not just with ice cream, but other products as well.)

Have I surprised you by talking about ice cream?

For those of you who may not know how I work, part of my coaching program encourages people to figure out which indulgences they will keep in their lives while keeping up with healthy eating and exercise habits.

Ice cream is one of my top indulgences and when I want it, and make the effort to go get it, I want the real thing….

Keep reading as I will reveal why satisfying this craving at that moment was necessary…

Back to the grocery store...I embarked on a quest, visiting not one, not two, but three different stores in search of real ice cream (and a specific brand that has become my favorite.)

And now... to address the elephant in the freezer aisle...

Real ice cream has almost disappeared!

The culprit behind this disappearance is the shift towards alternative milk options, plant-based creations, and dairy-free alternatives. While these options cater to specific dietary needs and personal preferences, it seems as though they have overshadowed the traditional dairy ice cream that has satisfied generations.

Commercialism loves taking things to extremes, and sadly, it appears this is happening with ice cream too.

Is real ice cream good for us?

No.

But….

Remember, in the world of extremes, we have the power live by our own rules. We always have a choice. I often opt for a healthier ice cream alternative, but this time I wanted the real thing. I needed the real thing.

Indulgence should never be accompanied by guilt, something I see clients wrestle with all the time. This guilt is what pushes people to the extremes of yo-yo dieting, which is not a sustainable way to live.

Instead, eating a treat should be a conscious decision based on what you genuinely enjoy.

Finding a balance in our lives is essential, and enjoying a scoop of real ice cream once in a while won't undermine all the hard work you've put into maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

In fact, there are added benefits to allowing ourselves to experience happiness and contentment, such as reduction in both stress and cortisol levels. Discover what truly brings you happiness and satisfaction and learn how to embrace that guilt-free.

I find it a real joy seeing others relish their treats as well. For example, seeing my almost 4 year old enjoy an ice cream cone is one of the simple things that brings me the greatest joy because it's a simple pleasure we both love.

Remember, a healthy life's journey is about balance, not deprivation, and finding happiness in the little things (such as real ice cream) helps you lead a rewarding life.
